The Lord of the Rings trilogy follows the hobbit Frodo Baggins as he undertakes a perilous quest to destroy the One Ring, a powerful artifact of the Dark Lord Sauron, in the fires of Mount Doom to save Middle-earth. He is joined by the Fellowship of the Ring, a diverse group of hobbits, men, an elf, and a dwarf, whose journey is fraught with danger from Sauron's forces and their own internal conflicts. The quest culminates in the War of the Ring, a large-scale conflict between the Free Peoples and Sauron's armies, while Frodo and his companion Samwise Gamgee make their way to Mordor to destroy the Ring.
